Improve your calf and cow calling skills
What’s up guys? Cody with Slayer Calls.
Today, I’m going to give you a few of my tricks and how to become a better cow calf caller. First, what we want to do is we want to recognize the diaphragm. We want to find a diaphragm that has maybe a little less stretch, if you’re just beginning, okay? Because that’s going to give us good nasally sounds that we want for cow calling.
What we want to do is we want to put the diaphragm in our mouth and smash it to the roof of our mouth, like we’re chewing gum. We want to find the strongest part of our tongue, which takes some tinkering back and forth. But then, the sound we want to make is “kia, kia.” We make that sound dropping our jaw. What’s going to give us the depth, so it sounds something like this. “Kia, Kia.”
And then, from there, all we have to do is just add a little bit of voice flexion, a little bit of pressure, length, duration. Take those tips with you in the woods this year and get yourself a bull on the ground. Get them.
